Dunks Reign Supreme at Southeast Regional Day 2

SPARTANBURG, SC: Day 2 of the Jr. NBA Southeast Regional Tournament rocked the rim. Bracket play, a dunk show by Charlotte Hornets mascot Super Hugo, and a Life Skills Session led by Muggsy Bogues in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Bracket play began with six exciting games filled with highlight-reel plays including a dunk by Team Florida Prospects’ Jacari Henderson with a pass off the backboard by his twin brother Demari. Jacari ended finished the game with 31 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. Team Florida Prospects advanced to the semifinal round to face Hoop City BC Elite War Eagles.

TSF Mack and MS Express Elite advanced to fill out the rest of the boys championship bracket.

The Georgia Metros, SC76ers, Carolina Dream, and Charleston Swarm advance to the semifinal round on the girls side.

Super Hugo put on a dunk show and used his best dance moves to energize the crowd just before bracket play began. The act was highlighted by Hugo’s dunking over coaches with an acrobatic jam.

Players and coaches were treated to a Life Skills Session led by Muggsy Bogues following pool play. Bogues provided insight into how both kids and pros can improve their professionalism, relationships, opportunities, and social media using skills they learn and practice on the court. Bogues emphasized that players need to grow their minds more than their games because the vast majority of athletes are professionals in a field other than playing basketball.
